Madison
The Madison News reported that a blood drive is slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at Madison High School. Participants must be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds and in general good health. The American Red Cross is reaching out to donors because as warm weather approaches, the need for blood donations rises.
Greenwood County
The Madison News reported that Greenwood County Fire Chief Dale Wiggins was present at the Greenwood County Commission meeting to request the final purchase of a new truck to be equipped for fighting fire in the Fall River area. The commission gave approval for $23,395 or less. Following the decision, members of the fire department told commissioners on behalf of firefighters across the country that fire trucks need to be updated faster. The firefighters expressed concern about the equipment they are driving.
