Orders for the April distribution of Angel Food boxes will be taken beginning April 9 at participating churches.
Standard boxes will include: 1.5 lb. New York strip steaks, 2 lbs. boneless and skinless stir-fry type chicken breast chunks, 2 lb. breaded breast fillet, 1 lb. steak fajita strips, 20-oz. supreme pizza, 28-oz. jumbo beef patties with gravy, 1 lb. all-meat hot dogs, 10-oz. individually wrapped cheese (16 slices), 1 lb. mixed vegetables, 2 lb. french fries, 12 white corn tortillas, 1 lb. rice, 15-oz. peach halves, 6-oz. pancake mix, 2-lb. 2 percent dry milk, dozen eggs, dessert. The cost is $30.
Senior and convenience boxes, with 10 seasoned, nutritionally balance, fully cooked meals, will contain as entrees: New Orleans-style chicken over savory rice, grilled chicken strips and penne pasta with creamy tomato-basil sauce, beef and bowtie pasta with herbed tomato sauce, flame-broiled salisbury steak with brown gravy, cheesy chicken and broccoli casserole, classic chicken tetrazzini, country fried steak with cream gravy, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken parmesan, flame-broiled beef patty with onion gravy. Each meal also includes a starch, two vegetables or fruit, and two-packs of individually wrapped cookies. The cost is $28.
The allergen-free box contains 1 pound each of breaded chicken tenders, breaded chicken breast chunk (boneless wing), breaded chicken nuggets, breaded chicken pattie, breaded steak fingers. The foods contain no peanuts, soybeans, milk, eggs, fish, crustacea, tree nuts or gluten from wheat, rye or barley. The cost is $25.
A new seafood box, which costs $35, will contain 2 pounds each of Alaskan salmon fillets, frozen whiting fillets, and 26 to 30 large shrimp per-pound.
Seven bonus boxes are offered with purchase of one regular box. The specialty boxes contain: assorted meats, ribeye steaks and bacon-wrapped pork fillet, steak and pork combo, chicken breast fillet, hamburger steak, fresh fruits and vegetables, and Valencia oranges. Costs range from $14 for the oranges to $22 for the fresh fruit and vegetables and the assorted meat box.
Orders at the Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St., will be taken from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
At the Americus United Presbyterian Church, 557 Broadway: 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
At Grace United Methodist, 2 Neosho St.: 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
At First Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24th Ave.: 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
