An Emporia State University graduate and Chase County native has been chosen from 27 candidates as the Granada Theatre’s new executive director.
Jessica Buchholz will bring talent, experience, enthusiasm and new ideas to the position, said Harry Stephens, president of the Emporia Granada Theatre Alliance.
“She has excellent experience in marketing and facilitating events as well as human resource development,” Stephens said. “We believe she will provide leadership for the Granada Theatre to be a destination location for a variety of events that strengthens Emporia’s commitment to arts and entertainment.”
Buchholz earned a bachelor’s in business from ESU in 2005 and an MBA in 2007. Since then, she has worked in Colorado for Target as a team leader in human resources and at Quiznos as an intern branding coordinator. During her time at ESU, she was assistant manager of the Grand Central Hotel and Grill in Cottonwood Falls.
Buchholz will replace departing director Doug Ford, who will move to Wichita to pursue other career opportunities.
