More than 90 Emporia High School students were in Manhattan on Saturday to take part in the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Regional Solo and Small Ensemble contest.
Students performed for judges and received comments and ratings.
Those who received “I” ratings will go to Newton on April 25 for the State 5A competition.
Students will be compete at state are:
- Ensembles: Viva Voce Mixed, Viva Voce Ladies, Select Women Ensemble.
- Vocals: Bekah Kvas, Katie Stuchlik, Rose Nasrazadani, Taylor Main, Sadie Cope, Nishat Yasmin, Delano Mendoza, Sean Richey, Donny Tennal, and Baxter Vaz.
- Strings: Melissa Heinitz, violin; Natalie Juarez, violin; Violin Quartet; String Ensemble.
- Percussion: Austin Miller and Andrew Sanchez, snare drums; Matt Howard, marimba.
- Woodwind: Seung Yun Shin and Amanda Baker, flute; Sarah Coulson, oboe; Alex Stone, bassoon.
- Brass: Kevin Sanchez, trumpet; Michael Vernon, baritone.
Sheree’ Stoppel directs vocal music; Melinda Flohr, orchestra and strings; and Bob Haselhuhn, band.
