Emporia High senior guard Taylor Euler was selected to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association’s Class 5A All-State first team and earned an invitation to play in the KBCA’s boys All-Star game in August in Topeka.
Euler was one of 24 players placed on a preliminary list to play in the game. Players must be contacted and agree to play in the all-star game, so the lists of players for the boys and girls games are subject to change.
The 5-foot-11 Euler was selected as The Gazette’s All-Area player of the year this season and also previously earned second team honors for both All-Centennial League and All-State. He was the only senior selected to the KBCA’s 5A All-State first team, joining juniors Rodney Givens and Trevor Releford of Bishop Miege, junior Rico Richardson of Highland Park and sophomore Christian Ulsaker of McPherson.
Euler was the only player from a school in The Gazette’s coverage area to earn an invitation to the boys or girls All-Star games, but other local players earned KBCA All-State honors. Olpe sophomore post Kathryn Flott, The Gazette’s All-Area girls player of the year, was selected to the Class 2A All-State first team, and Olpe senior forward Cole Krueger made the Class 2A boys first team.
