Head to the polls
For those who didn’t cast advance votes by noon today, the polls will be open for 12 hours on Tuesday — from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters who live in Emporia will be voting on whether a smoking ban ordinance should go into effect or not. Also on the city ballot are candidates for city commission and school board seats. In the outlying parts of Lyon County, school board seats are up for election.
If you’re not sure where you vote, call the Lyon County clerk’s office at 342-4950.
Pub reopens
The Main Street Pub and Grill in Allen reopened today following a temporary shutdown due to family illness.
Bob Lowder, who owns Main Street Pub in Allen with his wife, Charolette, had emergency heart surgery on March 26. He has been in the hospital since March 24. Charolette Lowder’s sister Keianna Thompson will be running the business. New hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
A fund has been set up at ESB Financial. Donations can be sent to the Bob Lowder Benefit Fund, ESB Financial, Attn: Brenda, P.O. Box 807, Emporia, KS 66801. The donations are not classified as charitable contributions.
