The guest speaker will be Dina Giron, a human relations specialist from Salina who is treasurer of the Kansas Human Relations Association. She is also a board member of the Community Housing Development Organization of Central Kansas.
For reservations, call 343-4291.
The meetings are sponsored by the city of Emporia, Emporia Human Relations Commission and the Kansas Human Relations Association.
Feel the burn
Jan Jantzen says he still has about 10 places open for his 2009 “Flames in the Flint Hills” pasture-burning “experience.” The burning, held at his Grandview Ranch on April 18, will introduce tourists to the traditional burning of Flint Hills pasture to clear the way for new grass.
The event costs $120 a person and includes an all-acoustic concert by Millbrook and a chuck wagon dinner served by Josh and Gwen Hoy of the Flying W Ranch. It will include a daylight burn and a nighttime burn.
The event will begin with orientation at 3:30 p.m. and end after the 9 p.m. concert.
