A stove fire late Monday afternoon was out by the time Emporia Fire Department personnel arrived on scene just after 5 p.m. at 908 West St., said Emporia Fire Chief Jack Taylor.
Taylor said a pan of grease caught fire and was put out with baking soda before fire crews arrived. Fire crews vented the home and were done.

Check out the StoveTop FireStop. It's a flame activated, automatic fire suppressor for your stovetop. You'll never have to worry about a stovetop grease fire spreading and destroying your house. www.stovetopfirestop.com.

I like the idea of the stove top fire stop. Have you ever used it? Does anyone know if flour can be used to put out a grease fire?
