Courthouse will open

The Chase County Courthouse will reopen at 3 p.m. Oct. 25 with a public celebration.
Emily Hunter, one of the organizers of the scheduled festivities, said activities will benefit the building.
“We will begin our activities with a ceremony welcoming all of our visitors to the courthouse,” Hunter said. “After the ribbon is cut, following addresses from various dignitaries, Chase County employees will welcome visitors to their new offices in the building.”
Hunter said that cannons will be fired on the lawn of the courthouse as part of the opening ceremonies. Refreshments will be served, area historian Ruth Childs will be selling copies of the book she wrote about the courthouse and special commemorative coins will be sold.
