Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Coffey County Library Board hired Jennifer Trimble to serve as administrator of Coffey County Library. According to the article, Trimble previously served as interim library administrator since April 28 when former administrator Mary Markwalter resigned to go to work at Mason City Public Library in Mason City, Iowa. Trimble will be responsible for organizing and managing the library’s operation and planning, directing and coordinating its program of service. Trimble has a bachelor degree in business administration in finance from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She has worked for two major banks in Kansas City and was president of the People’s National Bank in Burlington from 1989-1998.
Lebo
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Lebo City Council raised water rates recently during a meeting on Sept. 8. According to the article, customers will pay 50 cents more for each 1,000 gallons used. The exception will be the monthly service charge for the first 1,000 gallons. Those rates will remain the same.
Gridley
The Coffey County Republican reported that Southern Coffey County Middle School students will get their gym back on Oct. 1. The 45-year-old gymnasium floor was entirely replaced after it was damaged by heavy rains during a roof replacement the last of May.
