KIMBER MAGIE, who won a grand prize package from the merchants of the Flinthills Mall. The prize package was valued at more than $600.
• Glenda Priest and Lori Linville, who were named semi-finalists in the 2009 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program. Priest is a mathematics teacher at Emporia High School and Linville is a fifth-grade teacher at Lowther South Intermediate School.
• Chantel Dunn, who won a new bicycle in a poster contest sponsored by the American Dental Association.
• S&S Propane, who expanded its business by purchasing Flint Hills Energy LLC from the Flint Hills Rural Development of Council Grove and Agri Producers of Tampa, Kansas. The purchase will add new customers in Morris, Geary, Dickinson and Marion counties.
• Lyon County Health Department, which will hold a flu shot clinic on Oct. 21 at the Anderson Building.
• SOS, which received an $800,000 federal grant to prevent domestic violence.
