The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has concluded its investigation of alleged misuse of lawn and other chemicals at a home at 318 S. Market St.
Neighbors of homeowners Cathy Coop and John Roberts alleged that the two had misused 2, 4-D and poured diesel fuel on their lawn.
According to a report from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, seven samples were collected, six from the front yard and one from the back yard. The report states that 2, 4-D was present in the yard but was below the residential risk-based KDHE standard. The maximum detected level of 2, 4-D in the homeowners yard was .131 milligrams per kilogram. The residential risk-based standard for Kansas level for soils in residential settings is 670 mg/kg.
The report also stated that there were no detected levels of diesel fuel, fuel oil, jet fuel, kerosene, motor oil or petroleum hydrocarbons.
