Lebo
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Lebo City Council met Monday to discuss extra water in Lebo. Clerk Carrie Sloan told the council that the city’s water contract costs about $20,000 a year for water purchased from the supplier but not used by local homes and businesses. Part of the loss is related to the closing of the ice plant. The city’s contract requires the purchase of 2.5 million gallons and the city is selling only about 1.8 million. An effort to find a buyer for part of the contract has not occurred.
New Strawn

The week coincides with the Coffey County commissioners’ declaration of Oct. 13-18 as Fall Clean-Up Week in Coffey County. During clean-up week, waste will be accepted at the Coffey County Landfill at no charge. All household trash and loose paper must be properly bagged or it will be refused.
