Olpe volleyball wins Eureka Invite

The Olpe volleyball team went 5-0 and captured the championship of the Eureka Invitational on Saturday in Eureka.

The Eagles defeated Fredonia in two games, 25-22, 25-12, then went to three games with Lebo before winning 22-25, 25-18, 25-23. Madison also fell to the Eagles in three games, 25-22, 18-25, 25-17. Olpe’s final two matches were both two-game sweeps, as the Eagles defeated hosts Eureka 25-20, 25-12 and Bluestem 25-9, 25-14.

Hartford JV runners place high at Santa Fe

Hartford placed junior varsity runners in the top three from both the boys and girls squads at the Santa Fe Trail Invitational on Monday.

Spencer Rosenquist ran the 5K in 19 minutes, 45 seconds to place third in the JV boys race. Mike Payton finished 17th with a 23:04 time, and Chris Moomey’s 25:43 run was good for a 31st-place finish.

On the JV girls’ side, Callie Clark’s 19:35 time in the 4K was good for second place, and Megan Rohde finished third with a time of 20:22. Kevin Veatch placed 10th in the freshman boys race, finishing his run in 20:05.

Hartford splits pair

The Hartford volleyball team went 1-1 versus two Wichita schools on Tuesday at Hartford, winning a match against Wichita Word of Life and falling to Wichita Defenders.

The Jaguars took care of Wichita Word of Life in two games, winning 25-17, 25-18. Kellie Farr drilled 10 kills while recording a .400 hitting percentage, and Paige Hamman added five kills.

Wichita Defenders defeated the Jags in two games, 19-25, 22-25. Christina Lee led Hartford with five kills. The Jaguars are now 3-7.
