Finalist chosen for ESU post

One Emporian and three applicants from out of town have been chosen as finalists for the position of director of alumni relations at Emporia State University. The university will hold open forums next week for each of the candidates in the Memorial Union Flint Hills Room.

The candidates are:

Larie Schoap of Emporia, who is senior vice president for residential lending at Lyon County State Bank, where she has worked since 1995. Before that, she was assistant vice president for consumer and residential lending at Bank IV. According to a press release, Schoap has served in various leadership and fundraising roles in community and state organizations, and has a bachelor’s degree in consumer affairs from Kansas State University.

The forum for Schoap will take place Thursday, Sept. 25 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Peter Brodie has been alumni relations director at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., since 2004. From 2001 to 2004, he was alumni relations director at Daemon College in Amherst, N.Y. Brodie has a bachelor of science degree in health systems management from Daemon College and is currently working toward a master of business administration degree from Franklin Pierce University. The forum for Brodie will take place Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Cathy Dernoncourt lives in Wynnewood, Pa., where she is a consultant for non-profit volunteer-management and fundraising projects. From 2002 to 2006, Dernoncourt was associate vice president for alumni affairs at Drexel University in Philadelphia. From 1987 to 2002 she was associate director of major gifts and director of alumni relations at the Boston College Law School. Dernoncourt has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi. The forum for Dernoncourt will take place Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Lizabeth Richey of Alva, Okla., has been alumni director for the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation and Alumni Association since 2004. Before that, she was an administrative assistant for the foundation. Richey has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in education with a business emphasis from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The forum for Richey will be held Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The forums are open to the public.
