Final
Emporia State lost 41-20 to Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday night in Omaha.
The UNO offense scored on its first seven drives, never giving the Hornets a legitimate chance at a comeback.
Freshman running back Adrian Abner ran for 115 yards and a touchdown, and Sean Partridge caught six passes for 108 yards to lead the Hornets. ESU falls to 2-1 with the loss and 0-1 in the MIAA. Check Monday's Gazette for complete coverage of Saturday's game.

Halftime
Last week, Nebraska-Omaha put up 35 points in one quarter. So if ESU fans want something to remain optimistic about from the 27-7 first half in Omaha, the ESU defense at least gave the scorekeeper a little relief.
The Mavericks scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Zach Miller to Mike Higgins with 22.7 seconds left to cap an eye-opening half for the Hornets. The Mavs marched up and down the field at will, scoring on all five drives.
The ESU offense did not share the same success; however, after a three-and-out on its first drive, the Hornets did show some life on offense. Adrian Abner scored on the first touchdown of his career and Andre Sloan El threw for 59 yards.
Miller led the Mavs, throwing for 162 yards and two touchdowns and completing 14 of 18 passes. UNO running back Brian McNeill ran for 88 yards and a touchdown.
2:24 left in the second quarter
The ESU defense have figured out a way to keep the UNO offense out of the end zone. The Mavericks' fourth drive stalled after starting from their own 2-yard line, but again came away with a field goal to take a 20-7 lead.
The Mavs have scored on all four of their drives.
11:36 left in the second quarter
The ESU defense kept the Nebraska-Omaha offense out of the end zone for the first time on Saturday on UNO's third drive. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the drive ended in a field goal. UNO leads 17-7.
3:01 left in the first quarter
Adrian Abner capped a 13-play, 70-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run.
Andre Sloan El completed two key third down passes to keep the drive going. UNO leads 14-7. The touchdown was the first of Abner's career.
9:05 left in the first quarter
After ESU went three and out on its first drive, UNO's Troy Kush returned Johnny Torres punt 40 yards to the ESU 15, setting up a three-play, 15-yard drive that resulted in another UNO touchdown.
Keith Eloi kept a 9-yard touchdown pass from Zach Miller to give the Mavericks a 14-0 lead.
11:22 left in the first quarter
The Emporia State defense allowed its first rushing touchdown of the season on a 1-yard TD run by UNO running back Brian McNeill on its opening drive to take a 7-0 lead.
The Mavericks mixed the run and pass and kept the Hornets off balance on a seven-play, 61-yard drive.
