Chase County
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Chase County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution endorsing transportation improvements for Chase County during a recent meeting.
The resolution is to help in the creation of another comprehensive state road program.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Burlington City Council adopted rules for a skate park under construction in Conrad Park in Burlington. A fenced area formerly used for tennis and basketball has been renovated for a skate park. A new concrete pad has been poured and new equipment will be installed. The recommended park hours are 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. because of city curfews for youth under 18.
Cottonwood Falls
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the biodiesel plant in Chase County, R-3 Energy LLC, landed a $339,845 USDA Renewable Energy and Efficiency Grant. Jerry McCalla of R-3 said when he learned of the award he was told the company hadn’t received as much as it had been seeking. The company got all but $155 of what it asked for. The grant will cover about a third of the cost of the building. McCalla said the company hopes to being refining by mid-October of this year.
