The Emporia High girls golf team earned a fourth-place finish out of 11 teams at the Salina Central Lady Mustang Invitational on Tuesday.
The Spartans shot a 192, led by Maryann Bennett, who fired a 43 to finish in a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard. Hannah Watkins shot a 48, missing a medal by two strokes. Makenzie Harder fired a 50 and Rachel Clopton a 51 to round out EHS’ top four. Other Spartans competing included Melissa Heinitz, who shot a 51, and Candice Price, who fired a 70.
“The girls played very well today,” coach Rick Eckert said. “This is the first time we have scored below 200 in a nine-hole tournament since I started coaching here.”
