ON AUG. 16, we held a Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness day at our store. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness of fire, medical and other emergencies and to provide Emporia with a better understanding of how they can prepare for, prevent and respond to those emergencies. Many local agencies participated in this effort and together made it a resounding success.
The Emporia Fire Department, Emporia Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s office and Lyon County Office of Emergency Management were instrumental in our success by providing their people, equipment and educational materials. Thank You!
We are continually impressed by the generosity of our fellow Emporia businesses and are proud to be an active member of this community. Those who came to see us were treated to gourmet hot dogs and refreshing sodas courtesy of Fanestil Meats, Coca-Cola Classic Vending and Dolly Madison Bakery.
The Red Cross and Civil Air Patrol were on site with information about the important work that they do in disaster response. The local Girl Scouts were here with a display and did a great job in helping with the event.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to all who shared this day with us. We hope to make this an annual event, as we work with our neighbors to build a better, safer community. Together, we are moving Emporia forward.
