County, City Commissions Will meet on Wednesday

County Agenda

The Lyon County Commission will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday, in the Lyon County Commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse, 430 Commercial St. Items on the agenda include:

• Discussion of the 2009 ambulance service agreement between Emporia and Lyon County.

• Discuss an application for a change from agriculture to agriculture special use by John Weachter.

• Discuss Matt Collins attending the 4-day Aggregate Field Tester Certification on Nov. 4-7 in Salina.

• Discuss the topographic survey of the area around Emporia Child Care Center III and give directions.

• Review comparison of 2007 and 2008 expenses for the Lyon County Road and Bridge department.

• Discuss household waste grant.

• Discuss satellite facility in Chase County (noxious weed department).

• Richard Old, of the Lyon County sheriff’s office, will discuss replacement of two PBT devices for $750; discuss purchasing collapsible telestep ladder and tool backpack for tactical team up to $500 from forfeiture fund; discuss purchasing mid-level MFD radio equipment for tactical team in the amount of $5,700 to be paid from forfeiture fund.

• Discuss 2008 audit contract with Agler & Gaedert.

• Discuss purchase of equipment for court security.

City Agenda

The Emporia City Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the city conference room, 521 Market St. Items on the agenda include:

• Authorize repairs at 18th Avenue and Industrial Road.

• Review status of health insurance fund.

• Review status of workers comp fund.

• Presentation by Clean Air Emporia of proposed smoking ban ordinance.

• Review city planner job description.

• Continued review of compensation plan.
