WICHITA — The Emporia High boys soccer team finished its work in the Titan Classic with a shutout, beating Wichita East 3-0 on Saturday.
Alex Guevara, who scored five goals in the second half in the Spartans’ previous game against Great Bend, added two more goals in the first half on Saturday, enabling the Spartans to take a 2-0 lead. Arnoldo Torres knocked home a third goal in the second half.
Cory Obermeyer saved five shots for Emporia, including four in the second half.
The victory for the Spartans, 2-1, enabled them to finish fifth in the tournament’s Red bracket. They’ll host Wichita Northwest on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
