Council Grove
The Council Grove Republican reported that Morris County Hospital has completed its expansion. The expanded facilities at the Family Health Center of Morris County, adjoining the hospital, are now complete, adding five new exam rooms and two new offices. The administrative area of the Family Health Center has increased in size as well.
Council Grove
The Council Grove Republican reported that the Council Grove city-wide garage sale will be on Saturday, Sept. 20. The sale is a community project for the Council Grove Unit No. 121 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Hours of the sales are determined by the participants. The sale offers a variety of items, from collectibles and antiques to small appliances, furniture and clothing.
Eureka
The Eureka Herald reported that during the August 389 school board meeting, the board approved the hiring of Austin Wuthrich as the new social studies teacher for grades 7-12. Wuthrich received his bachelor of arts degree in history with a minor in political science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2007.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Coffey County Commission adopted the 2009 budget and the mill levy increased 4.533 mills, or about 10 percent. The owner of a $100,000 home will pay about $52.13 more in county property taxes for 2009.
