Last Saturday, Seville Ko was on his way to the endzone when something got in his way.
It was a receiver. Ko collided with Danny McEvoy, fell to the ground and felt a sharp pain in his knee. He had hyperextended his right knee.
This was nothing new for Ko. What happened about an hour later wasn’t much of a surprise either for anyone who has followed his career. In the second half, Ko fought through the pain and returned to the game to run for a 33-yard touchdown.
“I’d have to be on my deathbed to miss a game this season,” Ko said.
Seems like ever since Ko got to Emporia it’s been one thing after another.
In his freshman season — his second after taking a redshirt — he ran for 120 yards in the first half of his first college game. In the second game, he fumbled on ESU’s first drive. When he went to jump on the ball, he ended up at the bottom of a dog pile and hurt his knee. He needed surgery and was given the choice to take a medical redshirt, or he could return in four weeks after surgery. He returned in two.
