When Brian Murphy returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown last week — a touchdown that was almost meaningless late in a blowout, nonetheless —the Hornets’ sideline went nuts.
First-year punt return coach Sean Clowers wanted to know what all the fuss was about.
“Don’t you all score special teams touchdowns around here?” he asked.
“No,” Higgins said. “Literally. We really didn’t and it was hard for us to score on special teams when you’re talking about just making field goals and extra points.”
