Who says you can’t get anything for free anymore?
From 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday there will be several pick-up truck loads of free clothes offered to the public. No strings attached.
“It’s free,” said Vicki Seastrom, an Emporian who hopes to meet a community need with this giveaway. “Just come and get what you want.”
The clothes, which include a little bit of everything, she said, are left over from the First United Methodist Church garage sale earlier this summer. With all the agencies in town filled to capacity with clothes, she said, they were headed to the landfill.
Instead, Seastrom looked at the clothing surplus as an opportunity.
“With the price of groceries and gas, there’s a lot of needy people in town,” she said. “And I want to give back to the people of Emporia.”
The giveaway will be located at 729 W. Fifth Ave.
Bring your own bags and boxes, she said.
