Bulldog volleyball

gets two wins

Chase County’s volleyball team began its season with a pair of victories at Lyndon on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won 25-19, 25-16 and 25-17, 26-24. Chase County served 94 percent and 92 percent in the two games, eclipsing the team’s goal of 90 percent. Robin Grokett and Ashley Cahoone each hit on 100 percent of their serves.

Maci Wells led the Bulldogs in the blocks category with 10 over the two games. Kylee Scott paced Chase County with 12 kills.

“The team played with emotion for the first night out,” coach Gene Windle said. “We passed the (ball) well but still have a lot of work to do in this area. Defense moved well but has some spots to cover and work on.”

The junior varsity and C-team also scored victories in their matches against Lyndon. The JV team won 25-20, 25-22. The C-team won 25-15, 25-17 and 25-18, 25-16.

The Jags dropped match four to Peabody 24-26, 15-25. With five kills and a .556 hitting percentage, Farr again led Hartford, and Paige Hamman tallied four aces.
