Hornets finish 3-1 at tournament

The No. 11 Emporia State volleyball team finished 3-1 last weekend at the Nebraska-Omaha tournament, losing in the finale to Michigan Tech on Saturday.
ESU lost the first set 17-25, won the second 25-23 and then lost the final two sets 10-25 and 19-25. The Hornets downfall was a .007 hitting percentage against Tech.
Earlier on Saturday, Emporia State beat Northern Michigan 3-1, winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-23, losing the third set and then finishing the game with a 25-16 win in the fourth set. The Hornets hitting percentage in the first game was the difference, as they had a solid .344 hitting percentage.
Junior Arica Shepard had 15 kills in the match, Megan Koster added 11 kills and Hannah Carter had 10. Brianne Boner led the team with five blocks and Ting Liu had a season-high 45 assists.
