Deploys Wednesday
Private 2nd Class William Cody Biggs of Peculiar, Mo., who is with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division, will be deployed to Iraq on Wednesday. Biggs graduated from basic training camp at Fort Benning, Ga., in April and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colo. He is the son of Darren and Pam Biggs, a great-grandson of Bill Garrett and a great-nephew of Harold Wonser, all of Emporia.
In med school
Peg Bicker of Emporia has begun her third year of medical education at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita. For two years, Bicker studied biological sciences in Kansas City, Kan. As a third-year student, she will complete a four-to-eight week required rotation in the six major disciplines of family and community medicine, internal medicine, ob/gyn, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery. She will train in Via Christi Regional Medical Center and Wesley Medical Center, as well as the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.
