Clubs at Emporia High School staged their second annual Pumpkin Chuck on Thursday in the parking lot at the school.
Teams of students from each club competed to see who could fling a pumpkin the farthest. Some teams built replicas of medieval siege weapons.
The winner was the Technology Student Association, which built a trebuchet, a long-armed siege weapon. The Latin Club came in second using an even older method — throwing by hand.
Proceeds from the event went to help support the Science Club.
