The dangers of workplace romance will be explored in a romantic comedy performed at Madison High School this weekend.
The musical “The Pajama Game,” which is choreographed by Kelcy Kirkpatrick of Wichita, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday in the Madison High School auditorium. Tickets cost $3 at the door with no reserved seating.
“Conditions at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful, as sparks fly between new superintendent Sid Sorokin and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee,” said Christopher Shaw, director, and K-12 vocal music teacher in Madison. “Their stormy relationship comes to a head when the workers strike for a 7 1/2-cent pay increase.”
Shaw said the students involved in the show are active in many school activities including Quiz Bowl, football, volleyball, cheerleading and band.
“In a school of this size, everyone does everything and I believe it’s awesome that the school and community support a production of this size,” he said. “The experiences you learn in live theater cannot be created in another setting and I’m glad we can offer this opportunity to the students in our district.”
Cast members of the production are: Michael Luthi, Molly Ballard, Logan Barker, Danielle Bond, Drew McVey, Alex Ramirez, Malacie Bybee, Shelby Buster, Victoria Dean, Tina Ratcliff, Kelsie Bybee, Cassie Drake, Reece Childers, Tanner Bybee, Andrew Rawlings, Shae Rogers, Taylor Ratcliff, Miranda Murphy, Erika Shanks and Melissa McEwen.
