Couple brings Lincolns to town
Special to the Gazette
Friday, October 31, 2008
Abraham and Mary Lincoln come to Emporia at 7 p.m. Nov. 13, thanks to the Flint Hills Genealogical Society and Emporia Public Library.
The couple, portrayed by Hershel and Jacque Stroud of Topeka, will present stories from the lives of the former president and first lady. It’s not the first time the Strouds have appeared in Emporia. They’ve been here in character as Kansas Gov. Sam Crawford and his wife, Isabel. Another time they talked about Civil War medicine.
The event will be in the large meeting room of the library. For information, contact Kelli Proehl, 340-6452 or proehlk@emporialibrary.org
