Homecomming
The Olpe United Methodist Church will have the annual Homecoming festivities and a tour of the new addition Sunday, beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m.; worship service with Janice Barrons as featured speaker at 11 a.m.; covered dish dinner at noon; program at 1:15, which includes the Hymn, music by the Praise Band and reminiscing; hymn and closing, 1:50 p.m. All are invited to attend all or part of the celebration.
Music Festival
The Worship Ministry of the Grace United Methodist Church presents “Simple Gifts,” a music festival at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 2 Neosho St. Admission is free. Refreshment will be served in Fellowship Hall after the program.
World Community Day
The Church Women United will meet at 2 p.m. Nov. 7 for World Community Day, “God’s Wisdom Sets Us Free,” at the First Christian Church, 12th Ave. and Market St. The Emporia Unit of Church Women United sponsors this worship service, designed by members of the national CWU Celebrations Committee. Many Church Women United local and state units have long histories of involvement in prison ministry. “This service calls us to look at the struggles in our own lives as we reflect on how how we are to minister to others, especially in prison,” stated the press release.
