Food and drink for EHS cross country fans
Emporia High’s cross country team is inviting EHS fans to attend the Class 5A state cross country meet this Saturday at Rim Rock Farm north of Lawrence. Food and drink will be provided to EHS supporters following the races.
The EHS boys, led by All-Regional runners Octavio Dikin, Tyler Tilton and Matt Wayman, will run at 10 a.m. The Spartan girls, featuring All-Regional members Jenna Stanbrough and Abbey Davies, run at 11 a.m.
The boys are the defending state champions and have finished in the top two for the past five years.
Simons to enter KWCA Hall of Fame
Former Emporia High wrestling coach and current Hartford High School principal Curtis Simons will be inducted into the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame at the KWCA’s hall of fame banquet on Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Salina.
Simons coached Emporia for 11 years, with the Spartans winning Class 6A titles in 1995, 1996 and 2000 and putting together a 101-11-1 record during his tenure.
