Supports Mast

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

IN OUR Coffey County Candidate Forum this month, and also reported in our local newspaper, Rep. Peggy Mast repeated her support for the Holton Plant and clean-coal technology, but Carol Strickland, her contender for 76th Distrist House seat, said that there was no such thing as clean coal technology. Strickland’s comments about CO2 indicated her lack of knowledge about natural processes, as well.

Rep. Peggy Mast knows the issues and understands the needs of our district and state. One is the need for environmentalism tempered with the needs of the economy. Second, while America spends more money on education than any other country, it is one of the worst in academic achievement among industrialized nations. She strongly supports education but demands accountability. Peggy has effectively authored and passed legislation on topics such as easier prosecution for identity theft, insuring a clean environment in health clinics, rural fire protection access, and Sericea Lespideza. She received the “Americanism” award by the American Legion for her work for Veterans; a “Friend of Law Enforcement” award by Kansas Sheriff’s Association; Kansas Taxpayers Network award for voting against tax increases; Kansas community health care centers award for giving individuals greater access to quality health care. Her endorsements include the Kansas Farm Bureau, the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Federation of Independent Business.

I repeatedly hear constituents praise Peggy for her availability to listen, accessibility when needed, and frequent presence and participation in the 76th District. She is strong in adversity, compassionate towards people, and honest and affective in her quest for better government. Please vote with me to re-elect our wonderful Rep. Mast.

Well said. I spoke with Rep.Mast for a while she was out in the district a few weeks ago.I mailed a donation and thought why not run for Governor. Rep.Mast has my support this year and in the future.
