Frank endorsed

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

KITTY FRANK was recommended unanimously by the KNEA Political Action Committee (K-PAC) at their meetings in June and in September. Kitty was selected because of her answers to our questionnaire, which is sent to all candidates. Questions asked of candidates are only about educational issues.

The questionnaire, as well as the interview process and the incumbent’s voting record are carefully considered by KNEA-PAC as the group makes candidate recommendation decisions. Frank is our recommended candidate because of her answers on the questionnaire and in the interview, and, most importantly, because she understands how crucial and how important it is to educate our children. Kitty supports public education!

“Every morning, children in the Flint Hills region get up and go to school, but our funding system is broken,” Frank has said. “I recently met Michael, a ninth grader, who jumped in to help me at a parade stating, ‘Maybe you could make sure there are enough books in my class.’ Unfortunately, 2008 was one of the least productive sessions in the history of Kansas. Our legislature postured and remained divided and our schools are among those who suffer because of the inaction. We can do better.”

The Six River UniServe Administrative Board, which represents teachers and school employees in the counties of Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Coffey, Greenwood, Linn, Lyon, Wilson and Woodson, voted at its quarterly meeting on Sept. 17 to recommend and support Frank for the 17th State Senate District. Carol Strickland was recommended for the 76th State House District at that same meeting.

Emporia-NEA, at its Oct. 1 meeting, voted to give support to both Frank and Strickland.

Kansans Families for Education, a parent and community organization that advocates for public schools, has also endorsed Frank as their candidate in the 17th District Senate Race.

I wonder how many of those questions were, "Do you support more $$ for education? How much?"
