Allotting blame

Saturday, October 25, 2008

THE CURRENT economic crisis developed from the greed, self-centeredness, not taking responsibility and recognizing what the results might be by every individual in this country.

Every individual in this country has the right to voice their ideas and stay informed about issues that at some point will affect them, if it is city, state, national government or employment issues. Less than one out of two individuals step up and spend any time to learn the good, bad and ugly of any issue unless it is something that slaps them in the face.

The current issues facing the population today did not come about in just the past eight years of this administration. It is a result of apathy by the population of this country who perform the support jobs that keep this country alive. They have allowed themselves to believe that they cannot influence the decision-making process because of their personal situation or status in our society. Sacrifices have to be made in order to protect one’s own interest and that of our children. You are the fuel that makes this country work. The support jobs, individuals or households making $50,000 and less a year allow the few to run rampant.

If every employee of a support service sent their keys to Washington by one large dump truck, politicians and CEO’s would not know what to do. They would not be able to function because the work they thought they were doing or expected to be done would not get done.

Get informed about issues that effect you as a member of this society and get involved in the decision making process and, as the old saying goes, “Lead, follow or get out of the way.”

Just because you do not have a large savings account or retirement fund does not mean that your voice is not needed to make this a true democracy instead of a dictatorship by those with fat wallets. Their decisions are made in their best interest, NOT yours, and now we the working force will pay them for letting them dictate decisions without questioning.

Great article, Mr. Garrison. What a great example of support you provided; it bears repeating: "If every employee of a support service sent their keys to Washington by one large dump truck, politicians and CEO’s would not know what to do." That's called a general strike, and those keys
wouldn't even have to go that far. Even the wheels of local government would very likely be frozen. Quite an image.
