IN SEPTEMBER 2005, I signed up to be a part of the Peter Pan Playground project. When I read the plan for the playground, I knew I had to support it.
In the intervening two and half years, I, like many others, began to believe that there was no possible way that the project would ever come to fruition. A few, however, kept believing and kept working to make the playground a reality. Chief among those was Mike Dorcey.
In May, 2008 Mike's faith and hard work for his adopted hometown paid off. The result is a beautiful place for the children of Emporia to play. If you haven't seen it, I urge you to visit Peter Pan Park.
Mike organized a group of volunteers over multiple years, led fundraising efforts and eventually swung a hammer himself to make this project happen.
I believe that the dedication Mike showed over the years of the Peter Pan Playground project shows his willingness and determination to face every obstacle and overcome each and every one. This is the leadership we need in our county government. I ask you to join me in supporting Mike Dorcey for country clerk.
