One person is reportedly dead and another injured as a result of a two-vehicle accident early this morning on the Kansas Turnpike.
The accident, about milepost 137, was reported at 4:21 a.m. and was handled by the Kansas Highway Patrol’s turnpike unit.
Emporia Fire Department Chief Jack Taylor said that victims were extricated from both vehicles, according to information he received from the emergency medical personnel who responded to the scene.
“One patient was airlifted, and it’s my information that there was a fatality on-scene as well,” Taylor said.
Troopers continued to work the accident scene as the second vehicle was being removed by a towing company around 9 a.m. today.
Details about the accident, and the names of people involved, were not available by press time.
