Flu shots Tuesday
The Lyon County Health Department will hold its third annual flu-vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The shots cost $20 each and are for people 6 years of age and older.
The clinic is also training for department personnel in handling large immunization efforts during public-health emergencies.
People seeking immunizations are asked to enter the fairgrounds by the north gate on 12th Avenue and follow the directions of the parking attendants.
To save time at the vaccination clinic, download the Consent for Vaccination form at the health department Web site, www.flinthillshealth.org, complete it and take it to the fairgrounds.
Restaurant blast
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Federal and local authorities are investigating an explosion and fire that ripped a popular Kansas City restaurant.
The blast at around 12:30 a.m. today blew a sizeable hole in the side of Hereford House in the city’s downtown. Flames raced through the structure, sending thick, black smoke over the neighborhood.
Bricks and other debris from the building littered the street, forcing police to close adjacent streets.
No injuries were reported, and no one is believed to have been inside the restaurant at the time.
Officials from the U.S. Bureau of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the police bomb and arson squad and fire department are investigating.
The Hereford House first opened in 1957.
