Davis, shaw face drug charges after oct. 8 search warrants

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Defranco Davis and Alicia D. Shaw were charged in Lyon County District Court on multiple drug charges following the execution of two search warrants on the afternoon of Oct. 8.

Emporia Police Chief Gary Smith said the warrants were executed simultaneously — one at 810 Exchange St. and one at 1106 East St., Apt. 7. Officers executed the warrant at 810 Exchange St. with a special response team because it was considered a high-risk entry. The team forced its way into that residence. Uniformed officers executed the warrant at the apartment on East Street.

“We did confiscate several quantities of different drugs and cash,” Smith said, adding that the drugs were illegal street drugs.

The warrants were the result of about nine months of investigation with the help of people in the surrounding community and in an effort to clean up drug houses, Smith said.

Davis and Shaw, both of 810 Exchange St., were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, deliver or distribute within 1,000 feet of a school; no Kansas drug tax stamp; possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

within 1000 feet of a school... that's disgusting. Hopefully they'll get many years in private to think about it.

I want to know why this couple is still drving arround Emporia? Its like criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens. When are these people going to go through the justice system?

How soon we forget, in 2002 there was an explosion at 707 Eastgate Plaza. Killing Dana Hudson, a 19-year-old ESU student, and her 13-month-old son, Gabriel. Six other residents and a firefighter were injured. The Hudsons lived next door to Alicia Shaw. Back then there was drug activity going on and some foul play. Shaw was involved with Wallace L. Dixon III and Ethan Griffin the two men who were accountable for the explosion. Shaw has been involved in this type of activity for a while. How many people does she have to hurt before we recognize theres a problem here. Birds of a feather flock together, who is Defranco Davis? I found out he went to EHS back in the 90's so has he been selling drugs for the last 18 years. Thats a scary thought. I hope justice is served.

kvoe news reported it was a small amount of drugs they were caught with, im not really savvy about drugs and the amounts but it sounds to me like the quanity wasnt much. nine months investigation, dangerous entry into the home, all that made it sound worse than it was. i agree, sometimes it seems like criminals have more rights than they should have.

That was her sister Schelese Shaw not Alicia ,

Alicia Shaw is the sister of Dixon's girlfriend, Schelese Shaw.
Dixon, Griffin and two others had burglarized Shaw's apartment. So are you saying the Topeka Capitol is incorrect? You sound defensive? The sisters know what the other one is doing and what their exposed to, not to mention what their exposing their children to.

the shaw sisters were hanging out together the day of the explosion, they didnt warn anyone about dixon's threats. dana and gabe were trapped inside the building by the rubble and their deaths were a terrible loss to everyone who knew them.

Like you said "the shaw sisters were hanging out together the day of the explosion". Im not saying they knew the apt building was going to be destroyed. However Alicia knew Dixon was unhappy with Schelese. Alicia was protecting her sister and they knew at some point in time there was going to be an altercation. Usually most people know what type of lifestyle their brother or sister lives.

The sisters were hanging out together lets make it simple. If I smoke POT and my sister smokes POT, were going to hang out and get HIGH. The apple dont fall to far from the tree. Alicia is not little miss cant do wrong.
