Graduate
Katelyn Vonfeldt, a 2004 graduate of Northern Heights High School, graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., on Aug. 1, 2008. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health with a focus in community health and health education. She completed her internship with the Duval County Health Department, where she worked on the Healthy Jacksonville Initiative. During her internship, Vonfeldt created a grass roots level program to engage, educate and mobilize youth to document their community’s strengths and weaknesses through photography to move towards social and health policy reform. She will continue her work through the Health department by serving next year with AmeriCorps.
Vonveldt is the daughter of Patricia Vonfeldt of Maize and granddaughter of Lester and Shirley Kusmaul of Reading.
Joins sorority
Erica Elaine Bennett of Emporia has joined the Kappa Delta sorority at the University of Kansas where she is a freshman majoring in pre-journalism. Bennett, a graduate of Emporia Senior High School, is the daughter of Brenton and Jennifer Bennett of Emporia.
