Lyon County commissioners had a light agenda this morning that included discussions of carpeting in the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and remodeling of the third floor of the Lyon County Annex.
The carpeting in the sheriff’s office and jail is a capital item that was budgeted for 2008. It includes areas such as the hallway along the administrative offices, a break room, the records area for the detention center, the dispatch center and a large meeting room in the basement. The estimate for the carpeting is $16,000. Commissioners placed the item on Thursday’s agenda for further discussion and decision.
Commissioners also discussed renovations to the third floor of the Lyon County Annex, next door to the Lyon County Courthouse. The tenants on that floor want to bring a wall that is about 30 inches tall up to the ceiling to form another office. The area also needs electrical outlets.
“It’s not anything that is going to prohibit any use of the future,” Mark McKenna, of Lyon County facilities management, said.
Commissioners asked for more information on the issue as far as additional cost estimates. They also discussed helping out with the costs of the remodel by performing some of the electrical work on the third floor.
