TODAY IS A grand day for the Emporia Granada Theatre.
After nine years of work and almost $3 million, the renovated theater will be unveiled tonight. The dedication, hard work and the community pulling together for a good cause made this possible.
The Granada is steeped in history and the renovated theatre is making our downtown shine.
It is hard to think that in the ’80s, a wrecking ball almost brought down the Granada to make way for a downtown parking lot.
John Mallon and the Emporia Granada Theatre Alliance deserve a pat on the back for stepping in and rescuing the theatre in the final hour.
The Granada is here to be used. So make your reservations for weddings, reunions, family gatherings, concerts movies and more. The public can tour the Granada from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 11.
Congratulations to all who made this wonderful project a success. Look in The Gazette in the coming weeks for a special commemorative section celebrating the re-opening of the Granada.
