Maryann Bennett shot a 44 at the Seaman Lady Vikings Invitational to lead Emporia High’s girls golf team to a sixth-place finish out of nine teams at Village Greens in Topeka.
Bennett’s 44 was good for fourth place, and she was the best-performing golfer not from Hayden, which had the top three individual finishers and won the invitational with 163 points. Seaman finished second with 199. Emporia had 210 points.
The Spartans went to Hayden with just four golfers. Joining Bennett were Rachael Clopton, who shot a 50 for a 12th-place medal; Makenzie Harder, who shot a 54; and Candice Price, who fired a 62.
Hayden’s Lauren Falley, Brooke LaRue and Morgan Trobough all shot a 39 to place at the top of the field.
