Chase County goes 1-2 at Wabaunsee
Chase County’s volleyball team finished 1-2 at the Herington tournament earlier this week.
The Bulldogs lost to Clay Center 14-25, 17-25 and Herington 14-25, 18-25 before notching a win over Centre, 14-25, 25-19, 25-13.
“Ashley Cahoone played extremely well in the passing game,” Bulldogs coach Gene Windle said. “Maci Wells was tough at the net. (The) team still played up and down like a roller coaster. If we flatline, (it) could be a good season.”
Hartford volleyball drops two
In the words of coach Paul Cassity, the Hartford Jaguars never got on track Tuesday night at Leroy, losing matches to Marais des Cygnes Valley and Southern Coffey County to fall to 6-12 on the year.
The Jags dropped the first match to Marais des Cygnes 14-25, 23-25. Kellie Farr led Hartford with six kills, and she, Christina Lee and Kristen Williams all served at a 100 percent clip.
“(We) lacked intensity and teamwork,” Cassity said. “We were unable to get our offense moving.”
The second game was more of the same, as the Jags lost to SCC by the identical scores of 14-25 and 23-25. Farr added nine more kills, and Lee and Amanda Zwellmiller were both perfect on serves.
