Emporia High’s gymnastics squad finished seventh out of seven teams at a meet on Tuesday night at Olathe North High School.
The Spartans finished with 78.05 points.
“We only had one personal best, on floor, and that was Maranda Rust, a freshman,” said EHS coach Barbara Clark. “Beam was one area we need to work on — we had a lot of falls. We have a much-needed rest before our next meet in Newton.”
Rust’s 7.35 on floor was third among the Spartans behind Carissa Schmitz, who put up an 8.05, and Kaitlyn Miller at 8.0. Miller also led the Spartans with a 7.9 in the vault, a 5.4 on the bars, and a 27.5 in all-around. Haley Risley led Emporia on the beam with a 6.55.
Lee’s Summit finished first at the meet with a score of 107.55. Newton finished second with a 97.30.
The Spartans next travel to Newton for a noon meet on Oct. 11.
