Schwarm to lecture

The public is invited to the second lecture in the new LA&S Lecture Series at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Flint Hills Room of the Memorial Union.

Larry Schwarm, professor of photography at ESU, will present a talk entitled Man versus Nature: Photographs of Devastation. Schwarm is the recipient of the 1998-1999 LA&S Award for Excellence in Scholarship. Refreshments will be served.

Clydesdales coming

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be in Emporia for the Veterans Day parade, according to an announcement from Ron Whitney, who retired this year as sales manager for the area’s Budweiser distributor, Mussatto Brothers in Osage City, and currently is special events coordinator for the company.

Whitney said the famed draft horses will arrive on Nov. 7 and stay until Nov. 12. He is making arrangements for the horses to be stabled and will set up public viewing times soon.

“There are a lot of arrangements to be made prior to their arrival,” Whitney said.

Court closed

According to the city manager’s office, the Emporia Municipal Court will be closed on Monday until 1 p.m. for training
