Led by a tremendous performance from its offensive line, the Emporia Middle School eighth-grade A-team scored a 14-6 win over Junction City on Tuesday.
The Vikings’ line of Brandon Schrader, Sean Ford, Jimmy Page and Justin Steinlage opened plenty of holes for Dylan Jackson, who rushed for 110 yards on 20 carries. Defensively, Mike Kitselman starred for the Vikings, with eight tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
The B-team also won, beating Junction 14-0. Ethan Peterson recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown, and JL Savage later added another TD. Peterson later added another fumble recovery.
