4-H annual meeting

The Lyon County 4-H Alumni and Friends annual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lyon County meeting room, 2632 W. Highway 50.

The cost of the meal is $5 per person. For reservations, call Barbara, 342-1040, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or (620) 443-5790 evenings.

North Republican women

The Santa Fe Trail Republican Women of North Lyon County meet at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Allen Senior Center in Allen.

The speaker will be Sharon Meissner of Topeka, vice chairman of the Kansas Republican party, who will talk about the Republican National Convention.

Virginia Graham and Alberta Brinkman, who attended as alternate delegates, also will make reports. Brinkman will talk about the National Federation of Republican Women fall board of management meeting last month. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods for the “Caring for America” project for the Salvation Army food pantry. Visitors are welcome.

Bring your appetite

Hot breakfast burritos made from all-local ingredients will be available at the Farmers’ Market kiosk, beginning at 8 a.m.

Burritos with bacon or sausage will cost $4.50; vegetarian burritos will be $4. Proceeds will benefit the Farmers’ Market.

Farmers’ Markets will continue on Saturdays at 8 a.m and Wednesdays at 5 p.m. through Oct. 29, offering fresh locally produced fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, meats, baked goods, jams, jellies, live plants, cut flowers, hot ready-to-eat foods and handcrafted items.
