Traffic stalls on turpike after accident

Southbound traffic on the Kansas Turnpike halted for more a time Thursday evening after an accident at Milepost 105 of the Kansas Turnpike.
Emergency personnel from Emporia responded when the crash was reported at 5:28 p.m. The victim was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated.
The Emporia-Lyon County Fire Department sent two ambulances, a rescue truck and several other emergency vehicles to the accident scene.
According to the EFD activity log, emergency medical technicians tended to one person before transporting the patient.
Details of the accident, including the name of the victim, are not yet available from the Kansas Highway Patrol's KTA unit.
